Day 6 06

The Mara River Crossings

A full day in the northern Serengeti, which is one of the best places in Africa to see the crossings.

Your guide follows the herds, and when they go, thousands of wildebeest and zebra take to water with crocodile in it. It is the reason to come this far north.

The last night in the Serengeti is at Kuria Hills Lodge.

FAQs

When are the Mara River crossings?
Usually July to October, when the migration reaches the northern Serengeti and the herds start crossing the river. When exactly is up to the rain and the wildebeest.
Is this a private safari?
Yes. The vehicle, the guide and the itinerary are yours alone — you share the day with nobody outside your own party.
Can we add a balloon flight?
Yes. A sunrise balloon flight over the Serengeti can be added as an optional extra, and it ends with a champagne breakfast in the bush.
What will we see?
Possibly the Big Five, and certainly the migration in season — wildebeest and zebra in numbers, with giraffe, cheetah, leopard, crocodile, hippo, hyena and several hundred kinds of bird alongside.
Can the itinerary be changed?
Yes. More nights in the Serengeti, Zanzibar at the end, different rooms or more of the romantic extras — tell us what you have in mind and we will redraft it.
