Route Map

Day by day

Every day here is private — your own guide and your own vehicle — so the order holds but the hours are yours to move.

Day 1 01

Arrival in Arusha

Your guide meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and drives you across to Melia in Arusha — lush gardens, tall old trees, and a first evening with nothing in it.

Sleep off the flight, eat when you feel like eating, and let the safari start in the morning.

Day 2 02

Tarangire National Park

After breakfast you drive south-west into Tarangire — giant baobabs, and a river that holds water when very little else in the region does, which is why the park carries some of the largest elephant herds in Africa.

You have the full day in the park before turning in at Elephant Springs by Karibu Camps, out in the bush with not much between you and it.

Day 3 03

Lake Manyara & the Ngorongoro Highlands

The morning is a game drive in Lake Manyara: groundwater forest thick enough to feel like a different country, a soda lake edged pink with flamingo, and the tree-climbing lions the park is known for.

From there the road climbs into the Ngorongoro Highlands and Meliá Ngorongoro, where the air turns cool and the view falls away into the crater.

Day 4 04

The Crater, and into the Serengeti

You descend into the crater early. Six hundred metres down there is a caldera floor holding the densest concentration of large mammals in Africa — and the best chance in the country of a black rhino.

In the afternoon you carry on north-west into the Serengeti, to your honeymoon tent at Kubu Kubu.

Dinner is laid for the two of you alone, by candlelight, under the stars.

The day closes with a sundowner looking out over the savannah while the light goes.

Questions

Is this a private safari?
Yes. The vehicle, the guide and the itinerary are yours alone — you share the day with nobody outside your own party.
Can the itinerary be changed?
Yes. Because it is private, the nights, the lodges, the activities and the pace can all move. Tell us what you have in mind and we will redraft it.
