Every day here is private — your own guide and your own vehicle — so the order holds but the hours are yours to move.

Day 1 01

Fly from Zanzibar to the Serengeti

After breakfast you transfer to Zanzibar Airport for the scheduled flight to the Serengeti.

Your guide meets you at the airstrip and the first game drive starts there, across plains that hold lion, elephant, cheetah, giraffe and the big herds of wildebeest and zebra. The evening is at Meliá Serengeti Lodge.

Day 2 02

A Full Day in the Serengeti

A whole day out with your guide, working the park’s different country for the resident predators and the grazing herds, with a picnic lunch out in the bush.

Depending on the season and where the herds are, part of the Great Wildebeest Migration may be within reach. Back to Meliá Serengeti for the evening.

Day 3 03

The Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Highlands

A morning at leisure at the lodge, then an afternoon game drive across the plains.

Afterwards you drive up into the Ngorongoro highlands to Lion’s Paw Camp on the crater rim, ready for an early start on the crater floor.

Day 4 04

The Ngorongoro Crater & Back to Zanzibar

An early breakfast and down onto the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site, for a game drive in search of the Big Five — the endangered black rhino among them — with elephant, lion, buffalo, hippo, hyena and a great deal of birdlife besides.

After the drive you transfer to the airport for the scheduled flight back to Zanzibar.

Can I go on safari in the Serengeti from Zanzibar?
Yes. Flying in is the easy way to do it: you leave the beach after breakfast and are on a game drive by the afternoon, with none of the day lost to the road.
Does it suit a honeymoon?
Yes. A Serengeti lodge, a night on the crater rim and the beaches either side of it make this an easy one for couples to fit into a Zanzibar stay.
What might we see?
Lion, elephant, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, hippo and hyena, and in the crater the endangered black rhino. What you actually see depends on where the animals are and the conditions on the day.
