Every day here is private — your own guide and your own vehicle — so the order holds but the hours are yours to move.
Your guide meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and drives you to Melia Arusha, which looks out at Mount Meru across its gardens.
Nothing is scheduled. Recover from the flight and start properly tomorrow.
A guided walking safari with an armed ranger, which is a very different way for children to meet the bush than through a window.
Then a game drive through the park’s several ecosystems, including the Momella Lakes and the Ngurdoto Crater, and on to Koroi Forest Camp in the trees.

After breakfast you drive to Tarangire — huge elephant herds, ancient baobabs, and one of the most rewarding parks in the country for a first afternoon.

An early morning game drive in Tarangire, and then north to Mto wa Mbu.
The afternoon is a guided walk through the town — farms, the market, the workshops and the banana plantations, in a place where a great many of Tanzania’s communities live in a few streets.
You spend the night at Kitela Lodge, up in the highlands.

The drive through the Ngorongoro highlands and down onto the Serengeti plains, which is one of the better drives in Africa and worth doing slowly.
There is game the whole way in. You finish at Lala Salama Camp.

A whole day out on the plains looking for the Big Five and everything else that lives out here.
Depending on the month you may run into part of the Great Migration, which is a different order of spectacle again — though nobody can promise it on a given date.

A final morning game drive in the Serengeti, and then the road east into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
You stay at Lion’s Paw Camp, just off the crater rim.

Down into the crater, which holds one of the highest concentrations of wildlife anywhere on the continent and the best chance of the whole Big Five in one day.
Afterwards you drive back to Arusha and the Arusha Coffee Lodge, where the last two days are based.

East to the foothills of Kilimanjaro and Materuni Village, for a coffee tour with the Chagga who grow it — picked, roasted and ground in front of you — and a walk up to the waterfall.
In the afternoon, the Chemka hot springs: clear, warm water under fig trees, and the best possible answer to eight days in a safari vehicle.

Shanga is at the Arusha Coffee Lodge, so the last morning needs no driving: an hour in the workshop, watching artisans with disabilities make glass, beadwork and textiles from recycled material, and buying some of it if you want to.
Then the transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home.
Everything below is settled before you travel. What isn’t covered is listed just as plainly, so nothing on this trip arrives as a surprise.
